New Idea

The last several days I have been trying to figure out how to communicate the songs and bible verses that have spoken to me.

I remembered this morning that I have this blog, that I haven't used in YEARS!!!  Why not use this as a way of encouraging others?
Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. Psalm 37: 4-5
The following is a song from Among the Thirsty.  The title is "Completely."

I'm feeling so small
Standing here weeping
As I'm coming clean
Of the secrets I'm keeping
I've caused so much pain
To the ones I love the most
And I'm falling apart
As I carry my heart to Your throne

I am completely surrendering
Finally giving You everything
You're my redeemer, I run to the cross
Because You are more than enough
Lord complete me
Cause I'm Yours completely

I'm letting go
There's nothing I own
The treasures I held
Just weighed down my soul
And there's nothing left
Inside of me
But a longing for You
And a longing to be the man that You need

I let Your gifts take the place of you
But You pulled up my selfishness from it's roots
I am a broken and fragile me

But I'm where You want me to be

5 days

In 5 days I leave for India.  Wow!  There are times that I cannot believe that I am going.  Right now I have a lot of emotions I am dealing with.  The most stressful part is feeling like I do not have enough time to get everything done before I leave.  I also want to make sure I am well rested.  I am afraid I will forget to pack something, and then I will need it.  I'll admit I am a little nervous about the traveling.  I'm not worried about the safety about the trip, I am concerned that the 14 hour flight is going to be difficult for me.  I've packed a lot of things to do, I'll just pray that all of those things will help.

We found out tonight more details on the type of visits we will make.  We will visit orphanages, schools, a retirement home, and we will be able to participate in a medical clinic.  I will also be giving a presentation to educators.  I am really anxious about presenting to adults.  I keep worrying that I won't have enough to say, or it won't be interesting, or I will stumble while giving the presentation.

Okay enough negativity, I know that God will provide all that we need.  Romans 8:28 has been very reassuring for our team. - And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

Bad Blogger

Ok, so I admit that I am a terrible blogger. I haven't written a post in over a year (I think). So let me update. Last May I interviewed for a science position at a private school. To my surprise, I was offered the job. I quit my job for Wake County at the end of June and started my new job in August. I really liked most of the people I was working with in Wake County, however I could not work under the conditions I had been dealing with for the previous year and a half. I think people truly do not understand all of the mess that public school teachers have to deal with, from students to parents to administration. I am thankful that I do not have to work in that environment anymore. So now I teach 6th grade science at a private Christian school. I would say that 95% of the time I love it. I have new challenges, but I am thankful everyday to be able to teach in an environment where I am supported and appreciated.

In the last year, my family has dealt with their fair share of health issues. My grandfather was hospitalized in early September because of a leaky aorta. Then in October my father had a triple heart bypass. He has had a slow recovery and several setbacks. He has experienced shortness of breath and memory loss. My dad was hospitalized on New Year's Eve because he had pneumonia. During that hospitalization, we learned that his memory loss was due to the fact that he had had silent stroke at some point. My dad is now on permanent disability because he can no longer remember how to do his job. In November, my father-in-law had a mole removed and the results came back that it was melanoma. He had surgery in December to have lymph nodes removed and he just recently started treatment with Interferon. Josh and I have not had the opportunity to visit since treatment started, but hope to do so soon.

Last, but not least, I am going to India. This summer I will be chaperoning our Youth Group's mission trip. I am so excited to have this opportunity. The other night we had a meeting, where we were able to meet the couple who runs the organization in India. It was awesome to be able hear their point of view, because their passion for Christ exudes from them. I will be traveling in July to a place that is very different from everything that I am accustomed. I would appreciate your prayers. I also have to raise money in order to go. I sure hope that there are people who will be willing to donate in order to defray the cost.

Josh continues to do well. Recently at work he has taken on more responsibility which has led to its own stress.

I think that I have gotten caught up on the events since the last post. Hopefully, I'll post again before another year passes.

What's New?

It's about time for me to post again. I always feel like I have nothing new to share. I'm not one to ponder on the meanings of things or why people do what they do. I just write down things that are going on (which usually isn't a lot).

Right now I am tracked out (and boy do I love track-out). I am able to get things done around the house, and I am not tired (or stressed). I don't want to think about going back to school. Since I've tracked out I've been able to host a surprise birthday party, have visitors from out of town and we are going to go skiing in a few days.

We just bought a new couch (I know, exciting). We gave away our huge red sleeper sofa. I was glad to see it go. I think I might miss the sleeper sofa part, but I do not miss the way it looked. The new sofa is a neutral brownish/gray color. Now I want to paint the living room. I just wish I knew what color I wanted it. We have almost finished decorating the house. I think I want to buy a couple more pictures to put on the walls. Maybe I'll take and post some new pictures of the house.

Late Night Thoughts

So, it's been a while since I have posted (big surprise). I knew that when I started this blog that I would probably not be a regular blogger. Oh well. So here I am at 1:00 in the morning writing this post. I would really love to go to sleep but my mind is wandering too much for that to happen. Why is it that on nights I can't fall asleep Josh is knocked out and on nights when he is wide awake I am one who can't keep my eyes open...?

I can't believe that 2010 is almost over. A year ago Josh and I were still living in our 2nd apartment without any thoughts of buying a house. Here we are today in our home! I can't wait to see what 2011 will hold for us.

I really have a hard time putting down my feelings for others to read....maybe that's why I don't have as many posts. I guess I'm not comfortable with everyone being able to read my personal thoughts. There are so many things I'd like to type but I can't bring myself to do it. What am I afraid of...?

There's no crying in 5th grade

So the other day at school I made a student cry. I didn't mean to do it on purpose and I am still not exactly why the student got upset. It was at the end of the day and the kids were packing up to go home. I was checking to make sure that they had written down their homework in their planners. Side note: I have a homework chart and students get a sticker to put on the chart each day when check their homework. You get prizes a different levels (i.e. students get a piece of candy when they have 5 stickers). On this day one student didn't have their planner. I told the student that if the planner was not at school the next day then I couldn't give out a sticker because part of having your homework is taking your planner home and bringing back again. I then walked away. When I turned around I realized that the kids was crying. I couldn't believe it. Josh might say that I might have had a mean look, or my tone was not nice...but I am pretty sure that I was as nice as I could be.

There isn't a whole lot of new stuff to report on. We had a nice Labor Day. We went to Jordan lake with a group of people. Josh and I went tubing, and I hung out on the "beach." It was nice to spend time with everyone and I was glad I had a chance to relax.

The next couple of months (until Christmas) are going to be super busy. I think Josh and I have something planned for every weekend from now until the second weekend in December. I hope I have the strength to make it through.

Too Long

So, it has been forever since I posted. July has come and gone and August has almost done the same. Quick recap: July- I started a new school year which is always a busy stressful time. On the weekends Josh and I tried to relax. We went to visit Josh's parents one weekend, which was super nice because they have an awesome new pool. In August, Josh and I went on our first vacation since our honeymoon. Why so long you ask? Grad school! So we went to Asheville, visited Biltmore, went whitewater rafting, visited an awesome person named Travis and just spent quality time together. I also tracked out in August, yay!!!! My mom and grandma came for a visit, and I hosted a girls sleepover. I learned that girls are crazy!!! I had a great time with them...I forgot how much fun sleepovers are. So now I am getting ready to go back to school, and I am not really looking forward to it because of all of the fun I've had. Being an adult is not always fun...
